The High Council for Human Rights, which is affiliated to Iran’s Judiciary, issued a statement on Wednesday hours after the Third Committee passed the resolution proposed by Canada.
The statement said that the issue of human rights “has been politicized more than any other time, with double standards and discriminatory approaches being rampant in this regard.”
It rejected anti-Iran allegations levelled in the resolution on issues such as hijab in Iran, saying that “the anti-Iran project of human rights is a political and planned scheme.”
The statement criticized “inefficiency of human rights mechanisms and tools” as well as “biased policies” over human rights issues, saying that crimes, genocide and ethnic cleaning committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza are a clear example of those practices.
